HARBS is honestly one of my top three favorite cake shops of all time. We came right when they opened at 10 AM today, so the shop was quiet and we were the only customers at first. We ordered two slices of their signature fresh fruit mille crepes and one slice of the sakura cake. The fresh fruit mille crepes was just as good as I remembered. Light, fresh, creamy, and still one of the best cakes here in my opinion. The sakura cake was also very pretty, with a soft pink color and sakura petals on top. The flavor was light and delicate. There was also a salted leaf on the bottom, which made it a little more unique. Since it was my first time trying the sakura cake, I’m glad I ordered it, but I still think the fruit mille crepes is the best. The only downside is the price. One slice is almost $20, so it is definitely not something I could eat every day. More like a special treat once in a while, maybe when the stock market is doing well. Overall, still one of my favorite places for cake in New York.

The prix-fixe menu offers incredible value for the price. The staff are polite and attentive, making the experience very pleasant. The omurice was delicious, and the cakes have that delicate, authentic Japanese flavor. The place is spacious with plenty of seating, and even the restroom is exceptionally clean. A must-visit spot in SoHo!
A bakery that stays true to its Japanese roots, delivering light, fluffy cakes with just the right touch of sweetness. Every flavor shines, and the variety of textures makes each bite enjoyable and thoughtfully crafted. The cappuccino is impressively done as well—smooth, aromatic, and the perfect companion to the cakes. Staff very friendly and helpful.
We went for prix fixe set dinner for two times and really enjoyed food! Salad was fresh and pastas were very tasty. Japanese pasta was so unique and delicious! Seafood pasta was hot and perfectly cooked. Omurice was authentic: similar to what you can get from Japan. Cakes were great but most outstanding ones were chocolate and marron cakes! They were really special. Service was efficient.
I just love Harbs! I am a Japan style fan and they do it like that. The price fixe set comes with salad, main dish (either pasta or sandwich) today’s cake (strawberry cake is delicious & a must have if you like strawberries) it also includes a cup of coffee or black tea for $28-30. My kids and I usually get the lemon & Parmigiano pasta with the prix fixe. A La carte is also available, fresh cake, a quiet enough environment for a good conversation or a date.
Must try!! Expensive spot, for a cake and a tea you pay around 30$ including tip. However!! Well worth it! If you hesitate, I can assure you, go try it! It is delicious!! Try the fresh fruit cake, Mille crepe or just anything really. My fav is the grape jasmine tea in a pot
Food was excellent. Prices were a little high but not too bad. Portions were great even the prix fixe that we had came with a good size, and very tasty, salad, plentiful main course and a reasonable size of cake. Tea was lovely, disappointing to me the tea was not a refill but the water was free flowing and never allowed to get empty! The Japanese washlets in the bathrooms are fantastic and I still cannot believe they are not everywhere!
